This Month in Sea of Thieves: August 2026

The sweltering heat of August has had a few days to settle in now, and even though we’re already acclimatised thanks to the last few weeks of sweltering heat, it still seems like a good time to browse the upcoming Sea of Thieves schedule and share highlights of the month ahead. Lots of Live Events on the horizon, so it’s well worth having a read of what’s coming up and planning your Voyages accordingly…

Fight NightsEvery Tuesday

Load the cannons, there are battles to be had! Every Tuesday starting at 10am UTC, Fight Nights make their 24 hour-long return, promising increased Allegiance and gold for every Faction Battle you fight. All you have to do to participate is pledge yourself to a Faction at your Hourglass of Fate, then either wait for battle to find you or dive beneath the waves in search of an evenly matched opponent. Good luck!

Emissaries of FortuneEvery Wednesday

A new addition to our roster of rotating Live Events, Emissaries of Fortune is set to run for 24 hours once a week following its August 5th debut. During these windows (10am-10am UTC just like Fight Nights), you’ll discover that your earnings are boosted as you rise through the Emissary Grades, no matter which Trading Company you choose to sail for. If you’re chasing your next promotion, there’s no better time to head on over to an Emissary Table and get that flag flying high.

‘Bosun Bill (Retro Mix)’ ReleaseFriday, August 14th

The next addition to Sea of Thieves’ streamable soundtrack is on the horizon, and this time it’s a revamp of one of the classics. Our laudable Audio team have revisited ‘Bosun Bill’ and given it an 8-bit-style makeover, producing a brand new Retro Mix for your audio enjoyment and a chance to sink into indulgent nostalgia for an earlier gaming era. You’ll be able to give this reimagined track a listen on the streaming platform of your choice from August 14th.

Bilge Rats WeekenderFriday, August 14th – Monday, August 17th

Believe it or not, it’s almost time for another Weekender! You’ll once again have an opportunity to earn Doubloons by ticking off checklists of Challenges, undertaking time-limited Voyages and, as Reaper Gunpowder Runs make a fleeting but forceful return, seeking out hidden stashes of explosive loot.

Should you make it back to an Outpost with your volatile cargo, you’ll be pleased to discover that Gunpowder Barrels, Stronghold Gunpowder Barrels and Kegs of Ancient Black Powder all provide higher-than-usual gold and reputation payouts. Increased risk deserves increased reward, after all.

However you choose to earn your Doubloons, Duke and Larinna will both be ready to take them as payment for some exclusive items. Alongside any stock you might have missed in the previous Weekenders, there’ll be a selection of new items added to their respective Markets, so it’s worth tracking them down if you have any of those fine blue coins to spend.

August Game UpdateThursday, August 20th

Just past the midpoint of the month, we’ll have another monthly game update lined up and ready to go. This final update of Season 20 will introduce several more improvements to the Custom Seas experience, a barrage of bugfixes and balancing tweaks and a collection of new stock for the Outpost shops and Pirate Emporium – including the golden glory of the Sunlit Sepulchre set. Keep an eye out for the release notes when this update lands for a full summary of everything inbound when you next set sail!

Big Ship, Little ShipThursday, August 20th – Monday, August 24th

A slightly more unusual calendar entry, this one – Big Ship, Little Ship is a new, temporary approach to how we populate game servers. During this time-limited trial, any crew setting sail on a Sloop will only share the seas only with other Sloop crews, while Galleon and Brigantine crews are grouped together on ‘Big Ship’ servers. As a result, you’ll find you only encounter vessels and crews of a similar size and strength to your own.

We’ll be keeping an eye on how these changes impact crew interactions, so be sure to set sail and see what effect it has on your own adventures!

Pirate Emporium Explosive Encounter SaleFriday, August 21st – Monday, August 24th

The Emporium is already getting set to celebrate high summer in the traditional pirate style: with explosives. Following on from a particularly boisterous Bilge Rats Weekender, the Outposts are sure to be overflowing with spare gunpowder, so the Emporium shopkeepers are putting it to use and slashing prices on almost all cannons and weapons. It’s a chance to refit your Armoury and bedeck your decks for up to 30% off, so don’t miss out.

Twitch DropsFriday, August 21st – Wednesday, August 26th

Alongside the sale, new Twitch Drops will be deployed the day after the August update, with another package of prizes to be unlocked by dedicated viewers. Lending your eyes to a Sea of Thieves Partner or Affiliate Alliance stream for just half an hour will reward you with 75,000 gold, but that’s just the beginning: over the next five-and-a-half hours you can work your way up to cosmetic rewards including the Hornpipe Dance Emote, Rising Morningstar Battle Hat, Beachcomber’s Bounty Sails and exclusive Luminant Waters Lantern. Not to mention the Title that every sailor on the Sea of Thieves aspires to earn: Pirate!

Remember to link up your Sea of Thieves and Twitch accounts before you get started, and, if you’re in need of recommendations for who to watch, see which Sea of Thieves Partners are currently online in our Directory!

All of which brings us to the end of another busy month, with no shortage of Events to sink your teeth into or rewards to be seized – just the way pirates like it. If you’re hungry for more regular updates, give us a follow on your social media platform of choice or stop by the Events Hub for an up-to-date Live Event schedule. If neither of those take your fancy, you will of course be able to find us back here again next month, with a September schedule ready to go. See you then!
