Black Ops 6:Weapons detail, part 2

Global Weapon Builds

c3065d292a845448ed282361873cc88b062c95cb.jpg

Whether you’re playing Black Ops 6 Multiplayer, Round Based Zombies or Call of Duty®: Warzone™ (at Season 1), you can utilize a weapon build you’ve created across all three game modes. This time-saving innovation allows you to make a change to any Build or Blueprint in any game, and it permeates out everywhere the gun is equipped. Here’s an example of how this works.

Let’s say you want to create an AMES 85 Variant. In the Loadout Menu (MP, RBZ, or WZ though MP is shown above), simply complete the following:
  • Select the weapon in question and go to “+ Create New Build.”
  • Choose the Base Weapon, or any of the Blueprints you’ve collected, as the basis of your new Weapon Build.
  • Enter the Gunsmith, and perfect your weapon by adding Attachments, Cosmetics, and testing the weapon out in the Firing Range.
  • Move back to the Custom Loadout screen, where your weapon has a default name, and select “Build Options.”
  • Rename your weapon (you can also duplicate or reset it, too).
  • Your weapon is automatically saved. Now, when you access the Loadout Menus in your other game modes (in this example, RBZ or WZ), the weapon, along with the Attachments, Cosmetics, and name, appears.
  • All builds are saved within the menu of the individual weapon type.

Recap: As detailed at Call of Duty: NEXT, the focus for Black Ops 6 is to condense and streamline Attachments so you can easily understand the bonuses when it comes to utilizing the Gunsmith. Here are some of the changes:
  • Gaining the Advantage: Attachments almost always come with a benefit (Pro), and not a detriment (Con), so you know you’re creating a weapon more potent than the base version.
  • Optics for All... : Almost all Optic Attachments are shared across all weapons in a Weapon Class. For example, unlock the Red Dot Sight with a SMG and you’ll be able to equip it to all SMGs in the Weapon Class.
  • ...Everything Else is Unique: All other Attachment Types – Muzzle, Barrel, Underbarrel, Magazine, Rear Grip, Stock, Laser, and Fire Mods – are unique to the weapon in question in terms of unlocking and usage.
  • Getting Specific: Instead of having a weapon function – such as ADS speed – being affected by multiple attachments that are difficult to keep track of, they are related to a single Attachment type.
    • For example, equipping a “Rear Grip” Attachment will always improve your handling, and the grip you choose will boost a unique combination of handling stats (to Sprint to Fire Speed, Slide to Fire Speed, Dive to Fire Speed, ADS Speed, or a combination thereof). All the different grips are designed to improve the weapon’s potency, not reduce it.
  • Information is Power: The net result of this new system is that it allows players to make informed weapon-building decisions easily and create effective Builds without constantly needing looking up “meta” builds online.
Details Matter: Don’t mistake this streamlining as “dumbing down” the Gunsmith, as your Firepower, Accuracy, Handling, and Mobility statistics can also be seen in an expanded view, with individual elements like Reload Quickness, Recoil Gun Kick, and Bullet Velocity all available to compare in granular detail.

Attachment Types

cda5464587ae345526bc4b54377d2c199f1894d4.jpg

As always, Attachments are divided into types, and each type provides a basic advantage when placed onto your weapon, along with specific additional benefits based on the unique nature of each specific part. The following table shows the 11 different Attachment Types available at launch, and which Weapon Types utilize them:

Key: The preceding table has the following information related to Weapon and Attachment Types, as follows:

YES: Every weapon within the Weapon Type uses this Attachment Type.

SOME: Most, but not all, of the Weapon Type uses this Attachment Type.

NO: This Attachment Type is not available for the Weapon Type.

For example, the “Comb” Attachment Type is only available on Sniper Rifles.

Note: Attachment Type Descriptions are detailed throughout the rest of this Blog, so you know what each one does. See below.

Five Attachments Per Weapon. Eight if You’re a Gunfighter

baeda142c0f1f4acadea7c9f8e1c8bdc4da96f10.jpg

Along with the weapon’s current level, the Attachments Menu also indicates the number of Attachments you can place, and have placed, on your weapon. These are known as “Attachment Points.”
  • There are five points available, for Assault Rifles, SMGs, Shotguns, LMGs, Marksman Rifles, Sniper Rifles, and Pistols.
  • You can pick none, or up to five Attachment Points, though the more slots used, the better the weapon is likely to perform.
  • Each weapon type has more available Attachment types than points. For example, you can choose up to five points when building out an SMG, but there are nine Attachment Types.
  • Launchers and Melee Weapons do not have Attachment points.
  • You can increase the number of Attachment Points from five to eight by selecting the Gunfighter Wildcard, available when you reach Player Level 33.
Attachments: Main Statistics and Details

3d51f47fc2b96724e7b552c99e52740b333afadc.jpg

Four Main Statistics: Each weapon has a baseline value related to one of four key attributes: Firepower, Accuracy, Mobility, and Handling. These are each represented by a grey bar in the bottom-right corner of the Gunsmith Attachments Menu. In each case, the higher the value, the better. As you’d expect, some weapons are intrinsically more proficient when it comes to one or more of these statistics. For example, a Sniper Rifle has the best “Firepower” of all weapon types.

Each aspect of a weapon’s performance is related to these four statistics:
  • Firepower: The fire rate, damage, range, and firing ping on the Mini-Map.
  • Accuracy: The minimum and maximum Hip Fire Spread, Recoil Gun Kick, Horizontal and Vertical Recoil, bullet velocity, and Flinch Resistance.
  • Mobility: The Movement Speed (Crouch, normal, Sprint, and ADS).
  • Handling: Reload quickness (both with rounds and empty), ADS Speed, Sprint to Fire Time, and Weapon Swap Speed.
Every time you add an attachment to your weapon, it affects one (or more) of the above statistics. In Black Ops 6, adding an attachment usually grants you more pronounced advantages (“Pros”), and limited disadvantages (“Cons”) compared to the weapon without the attachment fitted.

Statistical Details: For those requiring nuanced analytical data regarding every single Attachment, you can toggle “Details” on and off, which enables you to see how each attachment affects the weapon specifically, and numerically.

Attachments: A Deep Dive

The following showcases a variety of visuals for each Attachment type, along with notes on which weapons you can affix them to. The statistical benefits (and drawbacks as appropriate) are discussed, along with any further pertinent notes.

Note: Any listing of a weapon type with an asterisk next to it (*) that you see indicates that some (but not all) of a weapon type use this Attachment.

Optic

16fa19466cd3e556f5759efcf551328635f8ea6e.jpg

Available on: Assault Rifles, SMGs, Shotguns, LMGs, Marksman Rifles, Sniper Rifles, Pistols.

Not Available on: Launchers, Melee Weapons.

Stat Benefit: Accuracy

Sights or scopes attached to the top of a weapon, designed to improve accuracy during target engagement. Occasionally improves Recoil Gun Kick. More powerful scopes (usually designed for Sniper Rifles) may reduce ADS Speed.

Note: Optics are a unique type of Attachment as they are universal. This means that once you unlock an Optic, it becomes available for every weapon in the same class, not just the one you unlocked it for.

Note: Optics come with Reticles; markings and dots that further delineate your targets and aid in your aiming. Your Optics can be further customized by unlocking a variety of Reticles via Reticle Challenges.

Muzzle

850b331f1fee1aa7480e54304255332771bfd809.jpg

Available on: Assault Rifles*, SMGs, Shotguns, LMGs, Marksman Rifles, Sniper Rifles, Pistols.

Not Available on: Launchers, Melee Weapons.

Stat Benefit: Accuracy

Usually attached to the end of the weapon barrel, Muzzles are used to redirect gasses (as necessary) and serve to reduce or control recoil.

Barrel

e3b3aa4598317b390e2d53e98a7837ec16c0e07e.jpg

Available on: Assault Rifles, SMGs, Shotguns, LMGs, Marksman Rifles, Sniper Rifles, Pistols.

Not Available on: Launchers, Melee Weapons.

Stat Benefit: Firepower

The front section of the weapon where the projectile travels through once the trigger has been pulled. Attachments tend to improve damage range and velocity, enabling you to hit a target more rapidly.

Underbarrel

e81f1e86391b412d600b3284960d626f57cf8118.jpg

Available on: Assault Rifles, SMGs*, Shotguns, LMGs, Marksman Rifles.

Not Available on: Sniper Rifles, Pistols, Launchers, Melee Weapons.

Stat Benefit: Firepower, Accuracy

Attached to the base of the barrel, Underbarrels come in two main varieties: Foregrips and Launchers. Foregrips are handles that can reduce recoil and sway (Accuracy). Launchers increase your firepower by adding an alt-fire capacity to the weapon, usually an explosive charge or grenade.

Magazine

4da8eb44e56e8027fc01888b391c9c983072c3f9.jpg

Available on: Assault Rifles, SMGs, Shotguns*, LMGs, Marksman Rifles, Sniper Rifles, Pistols.

Not Available on: Launchers, Melee Weapons.

Stat Benefit: Firepower or Handling

Magazines hold a weapon’s ammunition and are generally available in two types: Extended Mags allow you to carry more rounds, increasing Firepower sometimes at the expense of Handling. Fast or Flip Mags reduce your Firepower as you have fewer bullets but improve your Handling.

Comb

Available on: Assault Rifles, SMGs, Shotguns*, LMGs, Marksman Rifles, Pistols.

Not Available on: Sniper Rifles, Launchers, Melee Weapons.

Stat Benefit: Handling

A rubber handle behind the weapon trigger. Attachments offer a variety of Handling improvements, usually decreasing the time it takes you to ADS, or fire under specific circumstances.

Stock

498d90a7f31218673d0291968f9007b215ae1abc.jpg

Available on: Assault Rifles, SMGs, Shotguns, LMGs, Marksman Rifles, Sniper Rifles, Pistols.

Not Available on: Launchers, Melee Weapons.

Stat Benefit: Accuracy or Mobility

These are braces enabling the Operator to support the armament against their shoulder and attach to the rear of the weapon. Generally, the lighter the stock Attachment, the more focused on increasing your Mobility (usually movement speed). Heavier stocks offer more benefits to your Accuracy (usually flinch resistance).

Laser

Available on: Assault Rifles, SMGs, Shotguns, LMGs, Marksman Rifles, Sniper Rifles, Pistols.

Not Available on: Launchers, Melee Weapons.

Stat Benefit: Accuracy

These side-mounted lasers (or under-mounted for Pistols) emit a beam of usually red or green light usually visible to the enemy. However, your Accuracy is significantly improved or augmented.

NOTE: The Tactical Laser enables Tactical Stance, allowing you to balance your mobility and accuracy. This is the method to utilize the Modern Warfare® III firing technique in Black Ops 6.

Fire Mods

1369f47d57b849c288b15206091d1639f49dd3ba.jpg

Available on: Assault Rifles, SMGs, Shotguns, LMGs, Marksman Rifles, Sniper Rifles, Pistols.

Not Available on: Launchers, Melee Weapons.

Stat Benefit: Firepower, Accuracy, or Handling (Varies depending on Fire Mod)

A “catch-all” of other Attachments, Fire Modifications have a variety of uses and are mainly focused into two subsets; improvements to parts of a weapon (examples include rapid fire triggers, pump guide rods, and recoil springs) and specific ammunition types (examples include FMJ or Overpressured rounds).

Stock Pad

507b4cc4e27adc4b343939777fd6faa43c59bfd1.jpg

Available on: Sniper Rifles*

Not Available on: Assault Rifles, SMGs, Shotguns*, LMGs, Marksman Rifles, Pistols, Launchers, Melee Weapons.

Stat Benefit: Accuracy

This Buttstock Pad Attachment is only available for the LW3A1 Frostline Sniper Rifle. Fitting into the shoulder of the Operator, the Stock Pads available improve Accuracy in discernable ways (improving Speed, Sway, or Recoil).

RICOCHET Anti-Cheat™ Progress Report: Black Ops 6 launch

On October 25, Call of Duty®: Black Ops 6 launches and RICOCHET Anti-Cheat will be live on Day One, bringing with it new technology and upgrades to protect your experience.

When it first launched, RICOCHET Anti-Cheat committed to providing players with clear and transparent communication on our methods to protect the Call of Duty community from cheaters. Our technology and methods of detection have evolved so much, but the “how” and “when” we talk to the community simply needs to be more frequent and in line with our evolution.

The RICOCHET Anti-Cheat team has heard your feedback, and this progress report was written to provide a meaningful update on the issue of cheating as well as outline the foundation for the year to come beginning with the launch of Black Ops 6 and what lies beyond.

Over the last year, we have been investing in numerous core systems focused on decreasing the time gap between when cheating occurs and when our systems are able to act. By building on this foundation, we will be able to evolve more quickly and respond more rapidly (more on how fast we are trying to be later).

What Does #TeamRICOCHET Do?

58a0f8152345cb9dba92a879aa3a4fe8109d96b4.jpg

We protect Call of Duty games. We often achieve that goal but know there is so much more work to do. So, what is cheating in Call of Duty? Simply put, it is anything that gives a player an unfair advantage in-game using nefarious software, like wall hacks or perfect aim – not to be confused with any abuse of in-game glitches. Cheating also includes account sharing to unlock gear, using software to get access to items you haven’t earned or purchased, and account boosting.

All of these actions are against our Security and Enforcement Policy.

And you might be wondering, how do people cheat in online games? Put simply, cheaters use software to manipulate the game, to reveal information that shouldn’t be known, or to take automated actions with superhuman speed or accuracy. We all know cars shouldn’t fly in this slice of the multiverse, but sometimes our in-game worlds disagree.

The people behind cheats are organized, illegal groups that pick apart every piece of data within our games to look for some way to make cheating possible. These bad guys are not just some script kiddies poking around with code they found online. They are a collective who profit from exploiting the hard work of game developers across the industry.

But cheat developers are flawed (clearly – they have to pretend to be good at video games). Every time they cheat, they leave breadcrumbs behind. There are several ways we find those breadcrumbs, for example:
  • #TeamRICOCHET’s kernel-level driver for PC that runs as you play the game
  • Server-side and client-side detections
  • Machine learning models that look for anomalies and examine matches
  • Anti-Cheat’s Replay Investigation Tool
  • Third-party hardware detections and more

How Are We Protecting Black Ops 6?

10468df12fb27e92604039404cfab4e15b4e3534.jpg

The number one thing both we and you care about is not losing another match to a cheater. A lot has been put into Black Ops 6 to upgrade security, but here is the goal we’re targeting: we want to catch and remove cheaters within one hour of them being in their first match.

This metric is called “Time to Action,” and we will be monitoring our progress internally and building technology to drive this number down.

During the Black Ops 6 Beta, our team was live testing a lot of its new tech to try and achieve this goal. Weekend One was a stumble. In the past, we’ve used data from console players during Beta Weekend One to train and test our systems. Put simply, even though we love our friends who game on PC, it’s nice to have a weekend to stress test systems without the risk of cheaters. Since we had to protect the game without those stress tests, our new technology was so eager to catch cheaters, that it came in a little hot. When we recognized those errors, we immediately made adjustments to correct course in service of our new Time to Action milestone.

Cheaters were able to complete around 10 multiplayer matches during Weekend One before being removed. After tweaking our systems and deploying new detection methods for Weekend Two, we cut that time in half to 5 matches. That timing achieved our Time to Action goal. In fact, 25% of all Weekend Two bans happened during the first match a cheater ever played.

But removing someone after they cheat isn’t perfect, so we are ramping up detections to try to stop even more cheaters before they load into a game. During the beta we stopped over 12,000 confirmed cheating accounts before they ever saw the inside of a match.

Black Ops 6 on Day One is going to launch with a variety of updated anti-cheat tech. To name a few:
  • An updated version of the kernel-level driver. Note: All features in the October 25 update will protect any title that uses the driver, including Call of Duty®: Warzone™.
  • All mitigations, including Damage Shield, Disarm, Splat, Hallucination, and others will be live.
  • New machine-learning behavioral systems, focused on speed of detection.
  • New machine-learning detection models to analyze gameplay to combat aim bots.
  • Upgrades when Ranked Play launches, which include continuous examinations to determine if leaderboard placements are accurate. More on Ranked Play updates in a future blog closer the mode’s launch.
  • For Call of Duty: Warzone specifically, we’ve deployed new mitigations to interrupt cheaters. Stay tuned for a future report to learn about those new tricks.
We’re always looking for those breadcrumbs to find the bad actors and get them out of the game. That’s our commitment to the community.

What’s Ahead

152069425bb1d335fb4a7c853d9da9cee2648de3.jpg

While #TeamRICOCHET continues to develop and deploy client and server-side anti-cheat systems, we’re looking at what comes next. Fighting cheats today – on the client where illicit programs are activated – is a little like battling on a bad guy’s home turf: it is their machine and their code.

Kernel-Level Drivers on PC have enhanced anti-cheat’s reach, but cheaters are already offering cheats that go beyond the kernel, even going as far to utilize special PC hardware that is designed entirely for attacking games and enabling cheating.

What our team has been working on for the future is a suite of tools that use AI to find and fight cheaters.

Today, cheaters can run and hide but a trail exists. What if that trail disappears? That is what the team has been working on. Cheat developers can’t hide player behavior. How people play – the legit, the phony, the good, and the bad – gives us information and we use that to build ways to pick those bad folks out of a lineup.

We already have data from cheaters but to help build out profiles for those God-tier players we examine the data from the Call of Duty League – where every match is recorded, and every stat is preserved.

There’s more in progress around what we’re doing with AI beyond behavioral models and as work continues, we’ll share what we can.

Our Commitment

37829e41b48591d1b4926eb4cfff43d63fc1c451.jpg

Cheating is a frustrating issue across the industry. But our goal is to get bad actors out of our game as fast as possible. Our NorthStar is within one hour.

We’ve had a lot of wins over the years – taking down several cheat developers completely, shutting out third-party hardware, flinging cheaters toward the ground at Mach-speed – but we know those wins don’t make you feel any better when you get beamed by a cheater from across the map.

We can’t tell you cheaters will disappear forever because of the tech we’re preparing for launch. But everyone at #TeamRICOCHET will use every tool we can to keep fighting to deliver a fair and fun experience for you! And if the right tool doesn’t exist, we’ll make it ourselves. Anti-cheat is a constant effort, and we are always working to stop and thwart the efforts of cheaters. It’s an effort we’re deeply committed to, through and through.

Keep an eye out for updates in future Progress Reports and across social media, particularly the @CODUpdates X (formerly known as Twitter) social account for real-time issues.

Zombies Launch Updates from Treyarch

Liberty Falls Updates

c57cdbfcc3bb8000743cbb150696113ca7890ead.jpg

Since the debut of early gameplay footage at Call of Duty NEXT back in August, the Zombies team at Treyarch has continued to iterate on the look, feel, and sound of Liberty Falls to crank up the map’s creepiness factor. Heading into launch, players can expect a moodier visual tone to the map, along with gorier set dressings and new environmental audio to more intensely reflect the chaos of a very recent dimensional breach.

51e90ce04f823046f43656df2a8ccf0242d7ccb8.jpg

Additional atmospheric elements related to the map’s Main Quest will also be present throughout Liberty Falls as players begin to solve the mysteries waiting for them in the wake of the undead incursion. And of course, there might be a brand-new Easter Egg song from Treyarch’s Kevin Sherwood to discover along the way...

HUD Touch-ups

The UI team has also continued to update the game’s modular HUD, touching up some of the Zombies-specific elements that can appear across most HUD preset options and adding new settings. These updates include:
  • Character portraits added to the lower-left corner by default
  • General alignment and color adjustments made across the entire HUD
  • Perk icons now positioned closer together
  • Zombies-specific widgets added for certain in-game actions
  • In-game GobbleGum reward animation added
  • Visibility sliders added to allow players to fine-tune or completely disable additional HUD elements, including Score Feed, Medals & Notifications, Minimap Opacity, Weapon & Equipment Information, and more.

Terminus Island Recon

Terror Island: A Tour of Terminus

831361f7958001c1e745c71a47158b2877c7ed24.jpg

From the long disused mining tunnels to its use as a WWII resupply depot, to the structures built as part of a shuttered CIA Blacksite, there’s a wealth of discoveries to be made across Terminus Island. Given the more recent evidence of heinous biological experimentations led by the nefarious Project Janus group, our newly freed Requiem crew will need to stay on their toes.

Cells and Guard Station

39c13f2b7c0b4a6b421a7578088f05d638ed4e06.jpg

At the top of the prison sits a series of Holding Cells where the Requiem crew have been biding their time for the last half decade. The paint is peeling, the ducts are rusting, and there’s an odd smell coming from one of the air vents. Adjacent is the Guard Station where your handlers (Peck and Strauss) have barricaded themselves, as well as a lower interrogation room, with the remnants of a torture session still visible.

Security Overlook and Control Center

8dfce1e33967cf477455e8e9d8a8d4d110086d2b.jpg

A cracked concrete overlook lies below a guard tower, which leads to a two-level control center with monitor banks and a well-stocked armory. Further down the embankment the prison is built on, the remains of a Project Janus Communications structure seem to have been well-maintained, until the recent incursion.

Living Quarters, Storage, and Mess Hall

3546afd2259b190cccd26b2a787dcc9904d82a4a.jpg

The large storage area leads down an unloading ramp to the Rec yard, and on either side is an older structure built in 1942, when the U.S. Navy established a Resupply Base on the island. Nearby is an Engineering room, stocked with electronics and tables to tinker on.

Sea Tower

7e11c36540fcfc8524793c11e2bdaa9c768bb848.jpg

Explore the Dark Aether Reactor (DAR) Sea Tower, a gun emplacement atop an octagonal tower, with attached metal ramps and gantries (and an ascender) all the way down to the gigantic concrete footings.

Gun Battery Platform

A massive WWII vintage gun emplacement rests atop a thick concrete platform, seemingly modified by Project Janus in recent years as part of an unusual experiment.

Sea Caves and Mining Tunnels

857ef14dc58cd1e1ffb49bd0562f3ea44647e6d5.jpg

Below the outer areas of the island prison are a pair of subterranean tunnels, one naturally occurring, and the other man-made, dug out toward the end of the 19th century, when the island’s long-mined out coal reserves were being greedily exploited.

Bio Lab

58338a1e9d1f5648839beea078d9e9d77d972f97.jpg

An impressive feat of engineering awaits on the island; a large sea cave has been completely hollowed out, and a large-scale secret research facility has been constructed within the cavern walls. Multi-level gantry walkways and stairs are clamped to the outer walls, and what appears to be an experimentation chamber lies within.

Inclined Lift and Maglev Elevator

507ba28e9a9ad07a885d0e457c197a0a4cb42448.jpg

Though the Bio Lab is set within a huge cavern, it has multiple pathways outward thanks to an Inclined Lift that periodically trundles up to the top level behind the living quarters. Further around the Bio Lab gantries is an operational Project Janus-constructed Maglev Elevator.

Shipwreck

20b4d7e94002b885de7f6bac57c7037aea9aba57.jpg

Despite the radar buoys in close proximity, the remains of a shipping tanker indicate just how treacherous the waters around Terminus Island are. Slowly rusting from stern to prow, the salt waters have eaten away at the hull, though the main deck is still seemingly accessible.

The Outer Islands

cc5442e2f88b0347157359bdef7214d4af9e8dc8.jpg

To the northwest is Temple Island, with its odd pillar-like carvings. Due east is Castle Rock Island, named after the natural stone edifice jutting from the tidal sands that appears to be an old fortification. The largest of the three outcrops is Crab Island, where Project Janus disposal crews would discard the remains of their science team’s unwholesome experiments.

The seas around Terminus Island are also home to something more foreboding: a terror in the water, writhing up from an irradiated cloud and violently attacking those that remain outside the confines of the prison for too long…

Liberty Falls Recon

Almost Hell, West Virginia: A Tour of Liberty Falls

0f9ee35e9d416b91ed441a5b9ee4c0dc767f8f4b.jpg

The atmosphere of Liberty Falls, which takes place concurrently with the aftermath of the dimensional breach over on Terminus Island, feels a world away from the dark, stormy waters of the Philippine Sea and the massive concrete prison Grigori Weaver and his crew are fighting to escape from.

Players must explore the once-idyllic, now horrific small West Virginian town of Liberty Falls, whose residents have either fled or barricaded themselves into the settlement in a last desperate attempt to survive. By the time you arrive – under the watchful eye of Project Janus Security Chief John Blanchard – the town is overrun, and the battle seems well and truly lost.

Here’s a closer look at the Liberty Falls locations you’ll be able to explore:

You begin your battles against the swarms of rotting townspeople from a gas station rooftop vantage point. This soon becomes a disadvantage when you realize how nimble zombies are at reaching you. If you’re a glutton for punishment, switch on the Rampage Inducer here to speed up the action. Otherwise, descend to the ground and bear witness to the true horrors that have befallen this cursed hamlet.

Motor Lodge

5487adbc2a17d2ec04b552adbb923bde8c52df56.jpg

The ironically named Rest E-Z Motor Lodge is one of the first structures you’ll investigate after scrambling down from the gas station. Partly ablaze with the word “HELP” daubed across the roof, this is seemingly an epicenter of zombie activity, with shambling horrors crashing out of rooms on the ground and upper floors.

Olly’s Comics

4599fb221526192b06022db66cd15612394809dc.jpg

In the southern corner of town is the local comic shop run by Olly. Best not think about what happened to him. The shop caters to the true collector, with both the latest and back issues of “Charged Up,” “Heavy Space,” and “Odd Stories” on sale at reasonable prices. But most folks come here for the life-sized statue of Aetherella to pose with, star of the comic line of the same name.

Fuller’s Liberty Lanes

87e664e9872a800859ff546d951e9e6464cf19b5.jpg

An old-fashioned bowling alley comprised of a snack bar and small arcade has been overrun with the undead. The lanes themselves seem to be just wide enough to herd larger zombie hordes without getting trapped and ripped apart... but looks can be deceiving.

Savings & Loan

3e50c1cec0aa7ab08ba336c2f572dc991acbc6b2.jpg

The Bank of Liberty Falls is a grand stone edifice and seems to have been well barricaded before the baying hordes overran the place. That’s not to say this a safe place to visit, but it’s centrally located with fine marbled floors, only somewhat tarnished by the wreckage, strewn debris, and unpleasant fluids.

Holy Falls Church

67bca1bab02be6b50a0c353953cd7bac08d97332.jpg

This neo-gothic house of worship becomes more terrifying the further inside you investigate it. Placed on a plateau at the highest point in town, a dimensional anomaly seems to have fully enveloped the interior.

“The Alamo”

5d0e925fb864f6c6a8baa942bcabfa20b4ae0ed0.jpg

Judging by the sandbags, razor wire and other defenses, the bank's rooftop is where the last surviving members of the Project Janus response teams made their last stand. You'll find everything you need here....

Augments Overview

Equip Augments to your Perk-A-Colas, Ammo Mods and Field Upgrades to modify their performance.

123e9b7f24d45dc2307ac401964ab8e1da48b836.jpg

Recap: Augments are unlockable gameplay advantages you can apply to every Perk-a-Cola, Ammo Mod, and Field Upgrade in the game, and provide a rich and innovative customization experience, allowing you to invest into research between matches. Learn more about Augments here.
  • There are 108 Augments available to unlock and equip at the game’s launch, divided as follows:
    • Perk-a-Colas: Eight, each with six Augments (48).
    • Ammo Mods: Five, each with six Augments (30).
    • Field Upgrades: Five, each with six Augments (30).
Researching and Choosing Augments

c2e9ebb8f468a8fc372545c24d12bbf192b82da3.jpg

Augment Research: The key to unlocking the full potential of your loadouts is Augment Research. This unlocks at Player Level 11.

Once you research and unlock individual Augments, they can be chosen before the start of a match for each individual Perk, Ammo Mod, or Field Upgrade. To start researching an Augment, simply select which item you’d like to research in the menu and start earning XP in-game to make progress toward unlocking the Augment.
  • Each item has two available Augment slots: one for a Major, and one for a Minor Augment.
  • Expect three Major Augments to choose from, per item. A Major Augment offers a substantial advantage to the behavior of the item, usually during use.
  • Expect three Minor Augments to choose from, per item. A Minor Augment offers a limited advantage to the item, usually during use.
4db766689bed173a14be0526c7214cfa10924619.jpg

The depth of the Augments customization experience becomes apparent as you learn the different effects of each Augment, and how they stack and affect other upgrades across the game. This subsequently allows you to customize your Augments for your style of play, whether solo or squad-based.
  • If you’ve played a particular role in your squad – as a healer for example – you may already have a good idea of which Augments you should search for, unlock, and employ along with other related power-ups to optimize your team’s dynamics and survivability!

The Zombies Loadout (Updated)

e8add9636292b406684c36b1075a94794f3299aa.jpg

Locate the Loadout Option in the Weapons Menu. It is here you’ll choose and save your Zombies Loadouts. Compared to Multiplayer, the Loadouts for Zombies are set up a little differently. The Zombies Loadout is comprised of the following:
  • Weapon (Primary)
  • Melee Weapon
  • Field Upgrade
  • Tactical
  • Lethal
  • GobbleGum Pack
Weapons(Primary or Secondary)

Choose the armament you wish to drop into a Zombies Match with. These can be Base Weapons, Builds, or Blueprints. Gunsmith is available for these weapons. Choose from the following weapon types:
  • Assault Rifles
  • SMGs
  • Shotguns
  • LMGs
  • Marksman Rifles
  • Sniper Rifles
  • Pistols
  • Launchers
Weapon (Melee)

Your second Loadout weapon is a close-quarters armament with no ranged ordnance. Gunsmith is available for this weapon (Cosmetics only).

Field Upgrade

Though they share the same name, Zombies Field Upgrades are distinct from those in Multiplayer, though they share the same cooldown and recharge mechanism. In Zombies, Field Upgrades are powerful devices that offer a chargeable elemental ability, followed by a cooldown period after each use when the Field Upgrade recharges, ready to be used again. You’ll earn faster recharges simply by eliminating enemies, not with the passage of time. Look for a complete list of Field Upgrades and the Augments you can fit to each of them, later in this Blog.

Tactical Equipment

These are limited-quantity items that range from healing to disorientation devices, designed to offer a non-lethal advantage in combat.

Lethal Equipment

These are limited-quantity items that harm enemies, usually via an explosion.

GobbleGum Packs

Crack your teeth as well as the skulls of the undead with a variety of custom GobbleGum Packs, based on your stored reserves of this killer candy! Pick a single Pack to bring with you; with each Pack containing five different types of single-use GobbleGums. During a match, you access these via a special confectionary machine that holds each GobbleGum in your pack and spits out one randomly once you interact with it. For more information on how this works, read more here. Look for a complete list of GobbleGums available at launch later in this Blog.

Weapons Detail Note: The Primary and Melee Weapons you can choose from, along with Gunsmith and Attachment Intel, is covered in the Weapons Detail Blog, available here. Additionally, you have an additional space to carry a second (non-Melee) weapon that can be sourced from ground loot, a Wall Buy, or the Mystery Box.

Mastery Badges Note: Almost every weapon and equipment in your Zombies Loadout – Weapon, Melee, Field Upgrade, Tacticals and Lethals – have their own Medal Challenge (with associated XP Reward), and all individual Equipment items have a specific set of Mastery Badge Challenges to complete. Consult the Launch Comms: Progression Blog for more Intel.

Gathering all new and pertinent data, this section allows you to fully prepare for the forthcoming Zombies experience on October 25! Here’s what you need to know:

Pre-Game Menu Intel

Weapon Select: Gunsmith (Global System, Weapons Menu)

Build your optimal zombie-culling armament here, and then share it as a Global Weapon Build across Multiplayer and Call of Duty®: Warzone™ (at Season 01)! If you’ve built a weapon in a different mode (Multiplayer or Warzone), it will appear here along with all Attachments, both functional and cosmetic. You can then easily add it to your Loadout.

Weapon Select: Wonder Weapon (Weapons Menu)

182b77763e398602bc815cf10fd39e151eed21ac.jpg

Along with Gunsmith, Loadout, and Augments, any Wonder Weapons you may have previously unlocked, along with any associated Skins, are displayed here. This menu is simply for you to choose the preferred Skin for your Wonder Weapon, before obtaining it during a Match.

Operators Select: Dedicated Crew

c3331a03d8aec3baacad08c6c6026e87c9abc6ef.jpg

The Operators Menu allows you to choose from every Black Ops 6 Operator, though the opposing factions present in Multiplayer (Rogue Black Ops and Crimson One) are not as critically important when facing horrific dimensional breaches. Therefore, expect a single Operator menu, with “Dedicated Crew Operators” (Grigori Weaver, Elizabeth Grey, Mackenzie “Mac” Carver, and Maya Aguinaldo) flagged. You are encouraged to play as one of these four characters in Zombies for an enhanced story experience and unique content. Consult the Launch Comms: Multiplayer Blog for biographies and unlock criteria for all Operators.

Barracks: Progression and Zombie Intel Access

cde474373fe48874667afaf30e3ca089ea54af54.jpg

Ensure you spend some time between matches in the Barracks Menu, as you’re able to confirm the following:

Progression: Your Player Level Progression is your main focus; unlocking levels 1-55 gradually allows access to all the different elements, items, power-ups, equipment and weaponry discussed in this blog. For example, you need to be level 11 to access Augment Research.

Challenges: Weapon Camos, Calling Cards, and Mastery Badges all have a substantial number of unlocks to undertake. Learn the techniques to unlock Weapon Camos, check all of your Calling Card Career, Hardened, Prestige, and Dark Ops Challenges, and track the Mastery Badges you’re unlocking for every weapon, Support Scorestreak, Lethal, Tactical, and Field Upgrade!

Customize: Ensure other players know exactly what you’ve unlocked during your time playing Zombies!

Zombie Intel: View the Audio Logs, Documents, and Artifacts you’ve discovered during your exploration of each Zombies map. Have you found everything? Need to listen or read intel again for clues to the Zombies storyline? Then this is the menu to come to!

Stats: View your Combat Record, Medal Collection, and check out your placement in the worldwide Leaderboard of Zombies players!

Progression Blog Note: Consult the Launch Comms: Progression Blog for full details on every aspect of the Barracks.

Black Ops 6: Unredacted Launch Comms Incoming!

Expect further critical intel to be unredacted in the coming days as we confirm additional launch content across Multiplayer and Zombies. Look for the following missives:

The road to Black Ops 6 launch: Preload and new user interface

The October 25 launch date for Call of Duty®: Black Ops 6 is just around the corner, meaning it’s almost time to start preloading the game so you can jump right in when it releases next week.

To prepare for launch, we’re delivering an update that combines the preload of Black Ops 6 and the rollout of the new Call of Duty user interface into a single download. This is one of the last steps in the Roadmap to Black Ops 6 Launch we discussed in August, with more coming in Season 01. Once the download is completed, players can check out the new UI immediately and be ready to play Black Ops 6 as soon as it is released. Here’s what you can expect in the pre-launch update arriving on Monday.

CONTENT SUMMARY
  • Preload and Play at Launch: Preload Black Ops 6 starting this Monday, October 21 at 9AM PT.
  • Separate Downloads: On most platforms, Black Ops 6 and Call of Duty: Warzone are separate downloads, offering more control over your files.
  • Greater File Control: Keep the titles and individual modes that you’re currently playing and uninstall the rest to free up storage space.
  • Meet the New UI: Access featured titles and modes on your Home page, previous titles under All Games, and the latest purchasable content under Store.
  • Faster Access to the Fun: Instantly load up Black Ops 6 at launch. Starting with Season 01, instantly access Call of Duty: Warzone as well.
Black Ops 6 Preload

Preloading for Black Ops 6 begins this Monday, October 21 at 9AM PT. Players who have pre-purchased the game or subscribe to select Game Pass plans can download Campaign, Multiplayer, and Zombies so they’re ready to go when Black Ops 6 officially releases on October 25.

To make the preload as smooth as possible, players who pre-purchased Black Ops 6 and already have Call of Duty installed will receive the Black Ops 6 preload as an automatic update to their existing install, similar to previous Call of Duty updates.

Players who pre-purchased Black Ops 6, but don’t already have Call of Duty installed can initiate the preload from their platform storefront.

The download will be larger for players who already have Call of Duty installed as they’re getting the new UI and Black Ops 6 at the same time.

Call of Duty: Warzone — A Separate Download

Call of Duty: Warzone™ content is not automatically included in the default download for Black Ops 6.

However, players who don’t already have Call of Duty: Warzone installed can still choose to download it alongside Black Ops 6 by selecting it in your platform’s install manager. Players can also download Call of Duty: Warzone at any point after their initial Black Ops 6 install from within the new Call of Duty user interface. We encourage players to download Call of Duty: Warzone to get the most out of their Call of Duty experience and prepare for some exciting updates coming in Season 01!

There will be no impact to this change for players who already have Call of Duty: Warzone installed – you will continue to receive game updates automatically as you have in the past.

Downloading Black Ops 6 with Call of Duty: Warzone

On most platforms, Black Ops 6 content will not be included in new Call of Duty: Warzone downloads.
Managing Your Call of Duty Storage Space

184da85aae8393bdce55202c0bb908d75e20137e.jpg

*Final UI subject to change, may vary by player.

With Black Ops 6 on the way, Call of Duty will take up more space on your device if you choose to keep all of your previous content installed since a new game is being added on top of your existing files.

Prepare for the Black Ops 6 download and future Call of Duty updates by actively managing what you have installed. To free up additional space, you can remove content that you’re no longer playing, including full titles and individual modes (e.g. uninstalling single player once you’ve finished the Campaign).

Players can uninstall content within the Call of Duty user interface or via their platform’s install manager. After content is removed, you can reinstall it at any point if you wish to return to those games or modes in the future.

A Tour of the New UI
On October 21, players can check out the new Call of Duty UI — formerly known as Call of Duty HQ — after downloading the pre-launch update.

At launch, the new interface will include three main hubs: Home, All Games, and Store. Each hub displays all of its content on one page, eliminating the need to scroll. Here’s a rundown of what you’ll find in each section.
Home
The new UI features a landing page that brings together a variety of Call of Duty content. The Home tab showcases various tiles which each serve different purposes:
  • Game Tiles – Unlike the previous Call of Duty UI, players will now be able to directly access games, which have their own self-contained user interfaces. The newest annual title – Black Ops 6 starting on October 25 – and Call of Duty: Warzone will be shown on the Home tab. Other games are accessible via the All Games tab.
  • Featured Tile – This tile can showcase a variety of top content such as modes, maps, and Battle Passes depending on what is new and most relevant at the time.
  • What’s Hot Row – Similar to today’s What’s Hot row, these tiles highlight new playlists, bundles, etc. and give players easy access to that content.
  • Last Played Tile – This tile gives players quick access to what they played most recently. When you first log in to the new interface, this tile will be a fourth What’s Hot option until you’ve played a game within the UI
Depending on your preference, you can access game content through both the Game Tiles and any modes or playlists that are elevated to the Featured Tile or What’s Hot Row.
All Games
Cycle to the All Games tab to view your full library of Call of Duty titles dating back to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare® (2019). Cross-launch into owned titles, purchase unowned titles, and manage your installations from here.
Store
This tab will give players a path to access the Call of Duty in-game stores and showcase any other top purchasable content. The full Call of Duty in-game stores will be accessible at the game-level of the UI within Black Ops 6, Call of Duty: Warzone, etc. This tab sends players to those full stores.
UI Evolution

The new UI will evolve over three initial phases, reaching its full capabilities with the start of Season 01.

Phase 1: Pre-Black Ops 6 Launch (October 21 – October 24)

Initially, there will be a transition period from October 21 through 24 when the new UI goes live before Black Ops 6 launches.

During these few days, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III and Call of Duty: Warzone will be the primary Game Tiles on the Home tab and players will cross-launch into those games. Modern Warfare III will retain its legacy UI. Call of Duty: Warzone will retain its legacy UI until the Season 01 update.

The Store tab will direct players into the full Modern Warfare III and Call of Duty: Warzone in-game stores via cross-launch.

Phase 2: Post-Black Ops 6 Launch (October 25 – [Redacted])

When Black Ops 6 launches, it will replace Modern Warfare III, making Black Ops 6 and Call of Duty: Warzone the primary Game Tiles on the Home tab. Players will be able to instantly access Black Ops 6 and cross-launch into Call of Duty: Warzone.

Players who wish to continue playing Modern Warfare III can access it via cross-launch on the All Games tab or the Last Played Tile if that’s the content you’ve played most recently.

For players who have purchased Black Ops 6, the Store tab will now direct you to the full Black Ops 6 in-game store.

Black Ops 6 will have its own individual user interface designed to easily get players into the modes and content they want to play. Players can access Campaign, Multiplayer, and Zombies from the Black Ops 6 game UI. Look out for new updates to the gunsmith, playlist selection, and social showcase within Black Ops 6!

Phase 3: Season 01 ([Redacted])

When Season 01 begins, the UI will enter its fully realized state. Black Ops 6 and Call of Duty: Warzone will continue to be the primary Game Tiles on the Home tab and players will be able to instantly access both Black Ops 6 and Call of Duty: Warzone for a faster, more direct path to gameplay.

The Store tab will now direct all players to the full Black Ops 6 and Call of Duty: Warzone in-game stores based on what you have installed.

A Battle Pass tab will be introduced in Season 01 with similar functionality as the Store tab, directing players to the full Battle Pass within Black Ops 6 or Call of Duty: Warzone.

With the Season 01 update, Call of Duty: Warzone will also have its own individual user interface with improvements similar to the Black Ops 6 UI.

Changes to Features and Settings Management

Players will be able to manage some global settings at the top Call of Duty level of the UI that apply to all games. Settings in this bucket will be automatically imported from your previous title.

Other settings that are more game-specific can be managed at the individual title levels of the UI (e.g. gameplay settings related to new mechanics like Omnimovement). Settings at this level will not be automatically imported from prior games.

Follow the training missions assigned to you and pay attention to the instructions. Run around the Training Course as often as you wish and practice your favorite maneuvers before facing real players in the Lobby Playlists.

The Firing Range Returns: A familiar location to test your equipped Loadout weapons is available, and this comes with a few additions to help you continuously adjust a weapon build until you’re happy with it. Expect to utilize the following:
  • Practice dummies to shoot at, at 10-, 25-, and 50-meter intervals.
  • Dummies can have 0, 1, 2, or 3 Armor Plates added to them.
  • You have limitless ammunition.

This is also an excellent method of observing and exploring any maps you need a closer inspection of.

Launch Maps for Multiplayer

Recap: All the Black Ops 6 launch maps are small to medium-sized, with traditional three-lane routes and have been meticulously designed to fully realize the signature Call of Duty®: Black Ops experience. This means offering rapid, energetic combat, along with a variety of scenic set-pieces, cover opportunities, and ranged thoroughfares to ensure your favorite style of play is catered to, from close quarter strikes to long-range sniping, with emphasis always on the action. This culminates into tighter gameplay that’s perfectly suited to Omnimovement.

Maps are split into two main categories: There are 12 brand-new Core 6v6 maps. In addition, there are four brand-new, compact-sized Strike maps designed to be played in either Face Off 6v6 or 2v2 configurations. Below is a showcase of all the maps along with final Tac-Maps.

Core Maps (6v6)

Babylon

(Core 6v6)

There’s plenty of verticality to make use of here, so stay limber as you circle the central altar and seek out the best ground. Back out to the chapel or depot for more concealed views or get heated and rush the middle.

Derelict

Deep in the Appalachian Mountains, a train graveyard lies shrouded by a lush forest. Abandoned and forgotten, this derelict depot along the NAR Appalachian Railroad has become a prime ambush point for Rogue Black Ops and Crimson One to face off in a deadly skirmish.

Operators and Factions (MP, RBZ, WZ)

There are over 20 Black Ops 6 Operators to choose from at launch, with 11 allied to the Rogue Black Ops Faction, and 10 allied to Crimson One.

Factions Overview

Operators are chosen from one of two main Factions, with some affiliations to other groups within these conclaves (for example, Grigori Weaver is “Ex-Requiem”). The overarching goals of each faction is as follows:

Rogue Black Ops
fabc94c7a26fe7eb2d4987a1fd6f3435c725562e.jpg

On the run and hunted by their former employers - the Rogue Black Ops team seek to uncover the truth of the infiltration of the CIA and expose the conspiracy for what it is. All while staying alive and clearing their names.

Without the financial or technological backing of the US, Woods and his squad find themselves having to strike uneasy alliances with the criminal underground, as well as with old enemies, to equip themselves.

As they no longer have state backing, much of their equipment is either improvised, supplied by friends/contacts from other intelligence services, purchased from criminals, or supplied on the promise of future favors owed. They know who’s hunting them and refer to them by the name Crimson One.

Crimson One
97390b07e3d41bbe6cd8657a38dab93362bf27b2.jpg

Crimson One represents the CIA operation initiated to hunt down the Rogue squad. The team is officially sanctioned by the CIA and has access to all intel and tools to get the job done.

It is made up of elite Black Ops soldiers to get the job done and led by the imposing Jackson Caine.

With the CIA infiltrated, Crimson One represents the CIA operation initiated to hunt down and silence Adler, Woods, and their team, permanently.

Anti-Toxicity Report: Modern Warfare III results and Black Ops 6 launch

The Call of Duty team is dedicated to fostering a positive and welcoming community for all players. Part of these ongoing initiatives involve the development and use of technology to help our teams combat disruptive behavior, in accordance with the Call of Duty Code of Conduct.

In today’s Progress Report, the Disruptive Behavior team shares the latest results and upgrades made to Call of Duty’s anti-toxicity tools, which will reinforce the ongoing work toward deploying our anti-toxicity systems for the launch of Call of Duty®: Black Ops 6.
Voice & Text Moderation in Black Ops 6 on Day One
Voice and text moderation systems designed to combat toxic behavior already deployed in Call of Duty®: Modern Warfare® III will launch with Black Ops 6 on day one on October 25. This includes the global availability (excluding Asia) of Call of Duty’s AI-powered voice moderation system in English, Spanish, and Portuguese. Call of Duty will also expand voice moderation support to French and German for Black Ops 6 at launch.

Text-based moderation of in-game text chat and usernames in twenty languages will be deployed for Black Ops 6 on day one.

The Disruptive Behavior team knows that hype and passion is part of Call of Duty’s DNA. Voice and text-based moderation tools in Call of Duty don’t target our competitive spirit – it enforces against behavior identified in the Call of Duty franchise Code of Conduct, targeting harassment and derogatory language. Similar to Modern Warfare III, the Call of Duty Code of Conduct will be visible during the initial in-game flow when players first launch core multiplayer modes in Black Ops 6, asking players to acknowledge the Code of Conduct pillars.
Over 45 million Text Messages Blocked, Across 20 Languages
Since Modern Warfare (2019), Call of Duty has collaborated with Community Sift to support text-based moderation. In August, our text moderation expanded from 14 to 20 languages.

Call of Duty’s text moderation is available in English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Russian, Polish, Japanese, Korean, Arabic, Chinese (Traditional and Simplified), Turkish, Dutch, Thai, Vietnamese, Indonesian, Finnish, and Romanian.

Call of Duty has implemented a new analysis system for username reports to enhance efficiency and accuracy, surfacing critical reports to our moderation team for investigation and action.

The Disruptive Behavior team has also been emphasizing proactive measures for text moderation activity, reducing exposure to disruptive behavior for our community. The system also analyzes text chat traffic in near real-time, resulting in the blocking of over 45 million text-based messages in violation of the Call of Duty Code of Conduct since November 2023.

Exposure to Voice Toxicity Dropped 43%; French and German Support Added for Launch
Call of Duty’s proactive voice moderation strategy, powered by ToxMod, has helped reduce exposure to disruptive voice chat for millions of players since its global launch (excluding Asia) last year.

Since rolling out an improved voice chat enforcement in June 2024, Call of Duty has seen a combined 67% reduction in repeat offenders of voice-chat based offenses in Modern Warfare III and Call of Duty: Warzone. In July 2024, 80% of players that were issued a voice chat enforcement since launch did not re-offend. Exposure to disruptive voice chat continues to fall, dropping by 43% since January 2024.

At launch, Black Ops 6 will expand its voice moderation to French and German, in addition to English, Spanish, and Portuguese.

Call of Duty Collaborates to Battle Disruptive Behavior
The Disruptive Behavior team is continually making improvements to reduce our community’s exposure to disruptive behavior as well as enhancing our moderation effectiveness across all types of social interactions in Call of Duty. These improvements include improved messaging to players, Code of Conduct updates, and enhancements to our enforcement strategies.

As part of this work, Call of Duty has been working with the California Institute of Technology (Caltech) since 2022 which has resulted in research paper publication and improvements to our disruptive behavior approach which include reduced time to moderation enforcement as a result of Caltech’s research contribution.

The team has also worked closely with the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and their Product Innovation student cohort. This collaboration began in 2022 and continues to this day, with results of developed research providing our team with insights to better identify and combat disruptive behavior.

Additionally, the team is actively engaged in research surrounding disruptive behavior and prosocial activities in gaming. The knowledge gained from these research initiatives are valuable input to be fed back into the game as part of Call of Duty’s overall strategy to combat disruptive behavior.

Black Ops 6 Campaign: The Story So Far, part 2

In part 1 of The Story So Far, we covered the Black Ops story starting in the early 1960s through the late 1980s with major story beats and character profiles influenced by the narratives of Call of Duty®: Black Ops, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, and Call of Duty: Black Ops II.

youtube_16x9_placeholder.gif

It’s now time to set the stage for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 so you’re ready to dive right into the Campaign when the game launches on Friday, October 25.
Campaign — The Next Chapter of Black Ops

Forced to go rogue. Hunted from within.

Enter a period of transition and upheaval in global politics, characterized by the end of the Cold War and the rise of the United States as a single superpower. The Gulf War dominated headlines and there was growing mistrust in government reflected across the music, television, and pop culture of the time.

While the Gulf War commands the global spotlight, a shadowy clandestine force has infiltrated the highest levels of the CIA, branding anyone who resists as traitors. Exiled from their agency and country that once hailed them as heroes, Black Ops veteran Frank Woods and his team find themselves hunted by the military machine that created them.

44361cf1b27df5d3633b296caed069f4a8ba9434.jpg

Join Woods and his protégé Troy Marshall, both now working for CIA handler Jane Harrow, a fearless and brilliant leader who helps manage their relationships in the agency. However, when an operation goes wrong, Woods and Marshall are suspended and forced to go rogue.

They must build their own team of rogue agents, including Felix Neumann, a technical genius, and Sevati Dumas, a mysterious assassin. The infamous Russell Adler also returns! His allegiances and motivations remain unclear, but the team needs all the help they can get.

In the thrilling action to come, there’s just one rule above every other: Don’t trust anyone.
Bios — Jane Harrow, Troy Marshall, Felix Neumann, Sevati Dumas
Meet the cast of characters most important to the Black Ops 6 Campaign narrative. We covered Frank Woods, Russell Adler, and Helen Park in Part 1. Now we’re highlighting some new faces you’ll encounter in the Black Ops 6 Campaign:
Jane Harrow
5e796658b5bffcdaa996d0acbc44232e8109fa43.jpg

An operations specialist in the CIA’s Special Activities Division (SAD), Jane Harrow coordinates mission planning and intelligence gathering alongside multiple paramilitary handlers. Harrow reports directly to SAD Deputy Director Daniel Livingstone.
Troy Marshall
f9d87866d538a56896b77acac5e30451f2e45468.jpg

Marshall has been making a name for himself in the field. A protégé of Frank Woods, he is a methodical leader driven by a strong moral compass. With a single-minded focus on overcoming adversity and a stubborn streak that borders on recklessness, it isn’t surprising that Woods and Marshall share common ground. Both men are now working with CIA handler Jane Harrow.
Felix Neumann
6bfee01f80c098c6511ad178a9a4b7a78ea4a1b5.jpg

Raised in East Berlin after the formation of the GDR, Felix Neumann excelled at sports but showed little interest in them, preferring to read or tinker with appliances and electronic devices. Following compulsory military service, Neumann was recruited and trained by the Stasi.

However, after several years within their ranks Felix began to regret his association with the brutal Stasi. He started selling state secrets to West Germany and its allies to build a nest egg, with a plan to eventually flee East Germany. After successfully escaping to the West, he made a living by providing the criminal underworlds of Europe with his technological expertise and inventions.
Sevati Dumas
da954efd0c6767ce3fa61416a4bde1742bd1d92a.jpg

Taken in by the Guild, one of the Avalon Crime Factions, at a young age, Sevati Dumas loyally served the crime family as they trained her to become an assassin and espionage expert. Her allegiance changed when she met the love of her life, an idealistic man who helped reveal the ugliness of the criminal underworld.

When Dumas expressed her desire to quit the life of an assassin, the crime family manipulated her into thinking that her partner was an inside agent for a rival crime family. She orchestrated his death, but afterward discovered that the ordeal was a setup to keep her in line.

Sevati disowned her adopted family and became an independent assassin, funneling her resources into waging a personal war against the Avalon Crime Faction. Her exploits eventually caught the eye of CIA operatives in Europe who were eager to use her uncanny ability to track down elusive targets.

  • Veteran: You will not survive.
Gameplay Tips
5a0ab20a155a334ddb72b3777a23dbdf5156f493.jpg

Consider these tips when getting started with the Campaign to make your journey into the next Black Ops chapter a smooth one:

Know Your Inventory: Check your in-game backpack for supplies throughout the Campaign. Opening the backpack reveals the Equipment Wheel selection screen where various tools and explosives can be equipped, including series favorites like the RC-XD.

Check Your Vitals: Keep your Operator in fighting shape by watching the health and armor meters on your HUD. If your health bar depletes all the way, your Operator goes down for the count. Seek out armor pieces in the environment to bulk up your defenses.

Renovations: Seek out piles of cash while playing the Campaign to invest in your Safehouse, a manor perched atop a granite cliff that used to serve as a KGB Black Site in the 1950s and ‘60s. As the Safehouse evolves, gain additional customization options to fine tune your Operator for the next mission.

Evidence Board: Check the manor’s Evidence Board between missions to access additional intel and mission briefings. This is where the tactical planning occurs. Piece together the puzzles within the storyline between deciding on your best course of action.

[[Insert Story So Far Trailer]]

To prepare for the October 25 launch of Black Ops 6, we’re taking a deeper look at the major characters and story beats in the Black Ops series. In this first of a two-part blog, we start from the beginning with a recap of the original Call of Duty: Black Ops plus important narrative from Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War and Call of Duty: Black Ops II. Part 2 sets the stage for the Black Ops 6 Campaign and provides info on Campaign challenges, as well as the rewards that can be used in Multiplayer and Zombies.

For now, let’s turn the clock back more than 60 years, to the clandestine events of the early 1960s…
The Story So Far — Majors Events in the Black Ops Timeline
Call of Duty: Black Ops
Operation 40
7e0965bf23f04dc773d838f356975cd3d55016f1.jpg

The covert world of Black Ops began in 1961 with the opening of Call of Duty: Black Ops. Sgt. Frank Woods, Alex Mason, and Joseph Bowman are conducting “Operation 40” during the Bay of Pigs Invasion, whereby the United States supported Cuban exiles in an attempt to overthrow Fidel Castro and his communist regime. Operation 40 is off the books, its goal being the assassination of Castro in his home during the confusion of the invasion’s opening salvos.

The mission is successful – or so they think – until it’s discovered that their target was a body double. While attempting to escape, Alex Mason is captured and delivered into the hands of the Russians (specifically, Soviet General Nikita Dragovich and Colonel Lev Kravchenko) by the real Castro. Mason is imprisoned in Vorkuta, a Russian gulag, where he meets Viktor Reznov, a Russian captain who players first met in Call of Duty: World at War.
The Numbers Program (AKA Project Ascension)
0dd56ed23a8661bf6464ad248b985bf0f0b80a73.jpg

During Mason’s enforced captivity in Vorkuta, German scientist Friedrich Steiner, under orders from Dragovich, begins to brainwash Mason via the Numbers Program. The intent is to turn Mason into a sleeper agent who, upon receiving a number code, will “awaken” and complete the mission he’s been brainwashed to perform: assassinate President John F. Kennedy.

Reznov, however, has his own vendetta against Dragovich, Kravchenko, and Steiner, who betrayed him following the Battle of Berlin. To get revenge against these three men, Reznov also brainwashes Mason during their imprisonment with orders to hunt down and eliminate the trio.
Prison Break

Reznov and Mason instigate a prison break to get out of Vorkuta, rallying the prisoners to overwhelm the gulag’s defenses. On their way out, Reznov and Mason are separated.

Upon Mason’s return, Kennedy authorizes a mission to kill Dragovich, who has conspired with Kravchenko and Friedrich Steiner to weaponize a chemical agent known as Nova 6 for use against the United States. In this critical scene, Mason resists violent urges against the president, brought on by his brainwashed mind.
Deployment to Vietnam

Following Kennedy’s orders, Mason, Woods, and Bowman pursue Dragovich and Kravchenko in Vietnam. The three are captured and taken to a POW camp; Bowman is KIA. During this scene, Woods is forced to play Russian roulette with a revolver, delivering one of his most iconic lines: “You can’t kill me!”

Mason and Woods break free and hunt down Kravchenko, who corners Mason before Woods stabs him and jumps out a window with him just as Kravchenko pulls the pin on a grenade. Woods survives and is captured and eventually moved to a POW camp in the Vietnamese coastal city of Da Nang.

As the narrative progresses, Mason hallucinates and believes he sees and interacts with Reznov, including during a mission on Rebirth Island where Mason kills Steiner, believing Reznov is the culprit when in fact he alone carries out the assassination. This event leads to CIA handler Jason Hudson interrogating Mason about the Numbers Program.
End Transmission, Eliminating Dragovich
With Kravchenko presumed dead, Mason deploys to the final mission of the game — “Redemption” — set on the Rusalka, a Russian ship, in the Gulf of Mexico. He must stop a broadcast of the Numbers Program that will activate other sleeper agents embedded inside the United States. At the end of the mission, after shutting down the broadcast in an underwater facility, Mason encounters and drowns Dragovich.
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War
9767306e1382be521fc36d19bcffd2100050f3b3.jpg

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War tells the story of a conspiracy decades in the making, culminating in the early 1980s in the heat of the Cold War. The narrative picks up about 13 years after the events of the original Black Ops, featuring Alex Mason, Frank Woods, and Jason Hudson joining forces with a new cast of operatives to unravel a global terrorist plot, including the new playable character codenamed “Bell,” who served with one Russell Adler during the Vietnam War.
Uncovering Perseus
511b449508bda02bb3c0874647e358344f0f2e70.jpg

In 1981, CIA Clandestine Special Officer Russell Adler is sent on a mission with Mason and Woods to target the leader of an Iranian terrorist organization who assisted in the Iranian Hostage Crisis of 1979. This target is the first to mention Perseus, a Soviet spy and leader of a rogue organization that’s been around since the end of World War II with intentions of dismantling the influence of the Western Powers.

Upon discovering the existence of Perseus, President Ronald Reagan greenlights a mission to hunt down and kill the leader by any means necessary. With this order, Adler assembles a team made up of Helen Park, Lawrence Sims, and Lazar Azoulay.
Detonation

The team discovers that Perseus has found out about the CIA program Operation Greenlight, in which neutron bombs were placed in major European cities with the intent to self-destruct if the Soviets were to invade and take control. Perseus has acquired one of the bombs and orders a team of scientists to hack its detonation code in order to activate the remaining bombs.

Adler and Bell infiltrate KGB headquarters to try and discover the identities of Russian sleeper agents. On new information, they head to Cuba to raid the Perseus hideout, although Perseus escapes with the detonation codes with the intent to devastate Europe and blame the U.S. for the attack.
Russell, Bell, and False Memories
fcb33ec0215e49f9269b787c437b9f70eb798881.jpg

To help locate Perseus, Adler begins administering psychedelic drugs to Bell at the safehouse in an attempt to kickstart Bell’s memories of their time in Vietnam together. During the interrogation, it’s revealed that Bell never served with Adler in Vietnam at all. Those memories were in fact implanted to trick Bell into trusting Adler. It’s revealed that Bell was actually the lone survivor of the first mission with connections to Perseus. Now that they need to find Perseus ASAP, Adler attempts to draw out Bell’s true memories to help track down the terrorist leader.
Raiding Perseus HQ
With these original memories resurfaced, Bell leads the team to Perseus headquarters and destroys the detonation code transmitter, thus saving Europe and preventing a major catastrophe. Perseus, however, evades capture.
The Post-Launch Story Continues – Perseus, Man or Mantle?
197d68e5e90ad8d1557bfefcaf84f1988867b0fd.jpg

In the post-launch Black Ops Cold War narrative, new Perseus splinter cells emerge led by Vikhor ‘Stitch’ Kuzmin — who Adler previously captured and tortured by removing his left eye during the CIA’s assault on Rebirth Island in 1968. Stitch has taken up the mantle of Perseus, showing that Perseus is more an idea than a specific person, part of what has given the shadow organization such longevity.

Stitch worked with Steiner to develop Nova 6 on Rebirth Island, and he still knows how to produce the chemical agent and how to brainwash people. Stitch captures and brainwashes Adler in an attempt to flip him to the enemy side, but Hudson and Mason are able to successfully deprogram him after Hudson grows suspicious of Adler’s actions.
Call of Duty: Black Ops II

Saving Woods
The year is 1986. Hudson tells Mason — who has retired from service to raise his son, David — that Woods has been captured during an investigation into a smuggling ring in central Africa. Though reluctant, Alex must save his friend and so leaves David behind to join the rescue operation. This ends up being the last time David sees his father alive.

Mason discovers that Woods has been left for dead in a shipping container on the Cubango River in Angola, Central Africa. Mason finds and saves Woods — the only one of his group to survive — and discovers that Woods had been captured by Raul Menendez, leader of the Menendez Cartel.

After recovering, Woods wants revenge on Menendez and deploys to Afghanistan to help the military in a fight against the Soviets in exchange for intel on the cartel leader’s whereabouts. They also find Black Ops series villain Lev Kravchenko here. Woods kills Kravchenko after learning that Menendez has moles inside the CIA.
The Death of Josefina
c468c1dee443a50c2bcb2879966d7915fbbbbe9c.jpg

The CIA greenlights a mission to capture Menendez in his home in Nicaragua. During the chaos, Woods becomes enraged with Menendez and throws a grenade, accidentally killing Menendez’s sister Josefina in the blast. Menendez and Josefina are declared dead by the CIA, but Woods and Mason harbor some doubts about this.
Nexus One — Menendez Gets Revenge
b8b70bce023a4047f184feb82b96286a722dc093.jpg

Fast forward to 1989, and Woods and Mason are in Panama during the American invasion, seeking a target known as Nexus One. Woods ends up seeing Nexus One through a sniper scope, a bag over his head to hide his identity. Over comms, Hudson — who has been captured and forced to relay this false information by Menendez — tells Woods that Nexus One is Raul Menendez and directs Woods to execute him. Woods takes the bait and shoots Nexus One, only to discover that he has been tricked and has executed his friend Alex Mason.

Raul Menendez appears and shoots Woods in the knees, establishing his need for a wheelchair in the 1991 Black Ops 6 timeline. Afterward, Hudson sacrifices himself so that Woods may live. Now, Woods will suffer as Menendez has suffered from the loss of his sister. David, Alex’s son, is also present for his father’s death, joining Woods in the immense suffering the event causes.

Black Ops II also takes place in the future of 2025, though these events occur after the 1991 timeline of Black Ops 6.
Bios — Frank Woods, Russell Adler, Helen Park
Get more insight on three of the major characters returning in the Black Ops 6 Campaign narrative:
Frank Woods
e2176a96acf35043cee2a2007a27dd1e5ed956df.jpg

Frank Woods ran away from home as a young kid, never to return. He relied on his innate street smarts and survival instincts until enlisting in the Marines. Woods saw action in the Korean War and afterwards became a sergeant in the MACV-SOG during the Vietnam War, then going on to join the CIA’s Special Activities Division. In 1981, he was invited by Russell Adler to join his team on a mission to stop an impending attack by the Soviet agent Perseus.

During a mission gone wrong in Panama, his knees were blown out by Raul Menendez after being tricked into executing his friend, Alex Mason. Grappling with his new life as the world enters a new post-Cold War era, Woods perseveres by overseeing his own black ops team and leveraging his skills, experience, and expertise to train a new generation of warriors.
Russell Adler
992b1f6e759ea35e7d4cc23b3c32b886b4fdb25c.jpg

Russell Adler is a cold, calculating CIA operative called in for the most difficult assignments. His history before joining the CIA in 1966 is known only to a few within Langley. In 1967, he was assigned to the MACV-SOG unit in Vietnam to investigate covert Soviet activity. Adler participated in the clandestine CIA program MK-Ultra, which engaged in illegal experiments involving psychological manipulation.

His deep knowledge of covert tactics, fluency in Russian and German, and mastery of espionage made him a key CIA operative. Framed as a mole after the disaster in Panama where Frank Woods was maimed, Adler fled without a trace. He is now considered a person of interest by the CIA, with a capture or kill order in effect.
Helen Park
489471ab6efd852da14e6916a05ea344d6d9e471.jpg

Helen Park entered Oxford at age 16. While earning a doctorate in international relations, her older brother was severely injured in an IRA car bomb attack in London, leading her to drop out of the program. She redirected her focus to study the origins and motivations of international para-military organizations, leading her to join the ranks of MI6. At MI6, she collaborated with Adler on a CIA sponsored project, afterwards joining him on an ad hoc black operations team. The interests of MI6 and the Crown always come first for Park.

Though Park and Adler respect each other, their partnership isn’t always pretty. She’s methodical by nature, and at times believes Adler is making snap decisions. The two of them played important roles in running the safehouse and planning operations in Black Ops Cold War.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Multiplayer – The Road to Launch

Thank you to our amazing community who made the Black Ops 6 Multiplayer Beta the biggest ever in Call of Duty! We’re extremely grateful to all of you who spent time with us in the game and to those of you who shared your feedback.

From your experiences and our in-game data, we want to highlight some key areas of feedback that we’re committed to updating ahead of launch.

MAPS

While our selection of 8 total maps in the Beta trended smaller in size and included some of our Strike maps (playable 2v2 up to 6v6), we recently shared that the majority of our 12 Core 6v6 maps at launch are medium-sized.

We're excited about the map variety we've got this year, and we always take competitive play into consideration for Multiplayer. We’re looking forward to unveiling our map selections for CDL and Ranked Play (arriving Season 1) in Black Ops 6 in the coming months. Map size and game flow are critically important to us, and we look forward to seeing you all jump into all 16 maps at launch, with many more to follow in our live seasons.

We’re also evaluating some changes to cover placement across multiple maps, including some of our Beta maps, which we’ll be able to share more details on closer to launch.

SPAWNS
2e616321f67ffab5de4e85babb846625c1941a39.jpg

As a key companion to maps, we want to update you on the spawn system. One of the most important reasons we have a public Beta is gathering spawn data from our players. Now that we have two weeks’ worth of player data, we’ve already made big strides in dialing in our spawn logic and identifying and resolving issues within the spawn system across the game for launch.

Players may have noticed improvements to spawn logic throughout Weekend 2 of the Beta, and as new content comes into the game and we generate even more spawn data, we’re always assessing our spawn system and will continue to make necessary updates to it through launch and beyond.

PERFORMANCE

Our Beta was immensely helpful in identifying and resolving some performance related issues. Over the course of the Beta, we identified several areas that were impacting in-game performance. Some areas where we've made progress on performance include resolving general script errors, addressing issues related to our in-game user interface as well as overall improvements and fixes to our asset streaming.

A smooth game performance is paramount to the player experience, and we’ve been able to chase down sources of in-game “hitching” and deploy major fixes since the close of the Beta. We will continue working with experts across all disciplines to improve overall performance for launch and into the live seasons.

WEAPONS
a2a898b44d81bb9c5b86a6fda3504e6aabee7fb5.jpg

Headshot Damage

We were so excited to see our new weapons in the hands of players throughout the Beta and are grateful to have plenty of data and feedback to process as we look to balance updates for launch.

A common piece of feedback we saw was that low headshot damage reduced the impact of skillful play and made it difficult to challenge certain power positions. We agree with these points and are working on adjustments to many weapons to reward players who land multiple headshots during an engagement. That said, we do not want hit location multipliers to significantly affect the consistency of time to kill in Black Ops 6, so we will continue to monitor the effectiveness of headshots during launch and beyond.

Bullet Penetration

Bullet Penetration is another system that we will be improving for launch. In general players should notice fewer extreme cases of bullets doing far too much damage through certain surfaces (AKA Wall Bang), while also not penetrating as expected through others (e.g., those pesky snipers behind the radar dish on Scud).

More to Come

And of course, we continue to review data and feedback regarding general weapon feel and tuning, and we’re always keeping tabs on overall weapon class balance in the context of our entire map pool. Some specific changes coming at launch include:
  • Improvements to fluidity of sniper ADS
  • Improved fluidity when swapping weapons during sprint and tactical sprint. We’re excited about this one!
  • Reduction of weapon motion during crouch transitions
  • Small lift to shotguns and targeted adjustments across all weapons to keep SMGs from over-performing relative to other classes
Weapon balance is an ongoing process and something we’re working towards at every point in our live seasons. We’ll be sharing specific details about balancing in our launch Patch Notes.

MOVEMENT
210afd6c6c8f5a27a8608a5bf92b0151e620eede.jpg

We were blown away by all your Beta gameplay clips and Omnimovement highlights, including the awesome action hero moments you were all able to pull off! We are currently working to dial-in some additional updates to improve fluidity and allow players to tune their sprint behavior to their individual playstyle.

Movement Updates
  • Continued improvements to animation fluidity and fidelity throughout
    • We identified several areas for improvement to our 3rd Person animation fidelity across slide, dive, jump and supine prone. Our goal is that what you see in 1st Person is representative of what others see in 3rd Person in order to maintain immersion and predictability.
  • Adjustments to slide for improved predictability and fluidity
    • During Weekend 2 of the Beta, we increased the time before you could enter supine during a slide. After further assessment based on your feedback, we’ve reduced that time to find a nice middle ground between where we were in Beta Weekend 1 and Weekend 2.
    • Reduced the minimum time to slide after sprinting to prevent accidentally crouching when intending to slide, also known as a “dead slide”
    • Slight reduction to maximum slide duration.
  • Intelligent Movement updates
    • As a reminder, you can find our suite of Intelligent Movement settings in the Movement tab under the Controller or Keyboard & Mouse settings. These settings are broken down by Sprint Assist, Mantle Assist and Crouch Assist with the intention of letting you fine-tune your experience with the result of requiring drastically fewer inputs with basic movement and Omnimovement in Black Ops 6.
    • We identified an issue in Beta with the additional settings for Mantle Assist that allows for further tuning of directional mantles. These have been resolved and should now behave as expected.
AND A FEW MORE…

While we’ll be sharing a more comprehensive list in our launch Patch Notes, we wanted to give you a quick taste of a few changes coming at launch based on community feedback:

Winner’s Circle
  • Shortened overall duration of Winner’s Circle
  • Mitigated emote spam
  • Improved usability of emote wheel
  • Improvements to fidelity and lighting

Kill Counter
  • By popular demand, we’ve added a Kill Counter on your HUD that will track your progress toward Killstreak Medals, including those who are chasing the coveted Nuclear Medal and Nuke Scorestreak.
Camera Motion
  • We’re reducing overall camera motion on sprint, tac sprint, and slide
Kill Order
  • Increased 'Kills as HVT' team score to 3
  • Reduced 'HVT Survival’ score to 20
  • Increased Score Limit to 150
  • HVT will no longer drop their pistol when they are eliminated
  • Improved notifications when player is selected as HVT
Sleeper Agent
  • Removed the time added when earning Eliminations while Sleeper Agent is active
Equipment
  • Stim Shot has been changed from Inventory Based to Cooldown Based by default.
    • Quartermaster (Strategist) will decrease the cooldown time.
  • Resolved an issue where the Combat Axe would not deal lethal damage at round start. It wouldn’t be a Black Ops game if you can’t hit those cross-maps at match start!
Perks
  • After assessing Perk data from our time with the Beta, we’ve made a few updates to ensure compelling decisions are being made:
    • Assassin (Enforcer) and Bruiser (Enforcer) moved from Perk 1 to Perk 2
    • Dexterity (Enforcer) and (Gung Ho) moved from Perk 2 to Perk 1
RC-XD Controls
  • Updated to classic BO view-based control by default, with an option to switch to gas/brake; on controller, detonate swapped from R2 to R1 so accidental mistakes aren’t made.

Melt your enemies with the “Ghost Charmer” Assault Rifle Weapon Blueprint, featuring a ghostly animated skin that pulses over the weapon’s stock black and white design. Or opt for the animated “Maximum Aspect” SMG weapon blueprint with an extended magazine. Both weapons feature “Chromatographic” Tracers and the “Cenotaph Slam” Death Effect.

Instantly access the “Throat Rip” Finishing Move to silence your targets with a devastating attack to the jugular. Other BlackCell items are unlockable throughout the Season 6 Battle Pass, including 10 alternate BlackCell animated Operator Skins and 6 animated Weapon Blueprints with tracers and death effects.

The ghastly Alone fuses three bodies into one in a horrific mutant Operator Skin that animates with dripping blood and a static pulse. Alone joins KorTac as a zombified mutant, its disdain for small talk realized through the “Throat Rip” Finishing Move.

Alone is joined by a cast of BlackCell Operators whose very colors have seeped out of them, leaving behind a black and grayscale appearance that looks fresh out of the silver screen.

Purchase the Battle Pass: Instantly Unlock Farah, Michael Myers

Whether you purchase the BlackCell offering or the premium Battle Pass for 1,100 COD Points, the Instant Reward Sector becomes available, including a new Skin for Farah plus the legendary slasher icon Michael Myers.

Mountaineer (SpecGru, Battle Pass Instant Reward)

91d89edd4785149692ee954b4dcd98b9809a453c.jpg

Farah is preparing for the long haul with backpacking gear that will help her survive in harsh terrain as she travels to her next target. Muted all-weather apparel provides the means to move through the mountains without giving up her position, accompanied by surveillance and camping equipment for intel gathering and overnight excursions.

BlackCell Owners: Get the “Mountaineer BlackCell” alternate Skin depicting Farah in a black and grayscale, film screen appearance.

Michael Myers (KorTac, Battle Pass Instant Reward)

bb605b71e17c266be05500c85b702163a40da1e7.jpg

The legendary slasher himself, Michael Myers, has arrived in Call of Duty and he’s ready to decimate anyone who gets in his way. The iconic monster among men and terrorizer of Haddonfield stalks the AO with a horrifying and callous pursuit of blood. Lock your doors. Hide in the bushes. Michael is coming.

BlackCell Owners: Swap out the original green coveralls worn in the base Operator Skin for a darker blue.

The Instant Reward Sector also grants a 10% Battle Pass boost, the “Silent Stalker” Weapon Blueprint for the Holger 556 Assault Rifle featuring Michael Myers’ face on the model, and the “Haddonfield Takedown” Operator Finishing Move.

Additional Battle Pass Skins

Complete the Battle Pass Sectors to unlock a variety of new Operator Skins.

BlackCell Alternate Skin: Each of the following Operator Skins comes paired with a BlackCell alternate Skin. The colors have drained from these Skins, leaving behind a black and grayscale look that would fit perfectly into a classic horror film.

“Shaded Soldier” Skins (Makarov Operator Skin, Sector 1)

fa1696b0a7590d260a0e9c403fce30712feba20c.jpg

Battle Pass Skin: Makarov is up to something as he gears up in this full body tactical uniform complete with a face mask to deflect headshots and identification. He can’t resist leaving a calling card, however, in the form of the Combat Viper patches attached to his gear and jacket sleeve.

“Camp is Hell” Skins (Banshee Operator Skin, Sector 4)

6eb4b12b20755735fcd0c486dc60811ae1a6cc02.jpg

Battle Pass Skin: Never let anyone tell you it’s easy to be a camp counselor. Splattered in blood and dirt with cracked eyeglasses, this Operator Skin keeps on trucking through even the most disturbing interruptions. With a whistle and megaphone on hand, she’ll get your attention before dispatching you, too.

“Fiᴎal Girl” Skins (Valeria Operator Skin, Sector 5)

c1f00d424405f08c092fcf07d622d02deabd7dfd.jpg

Battle Pass Skin: Against even the most gruesome slashers and killers, there’s always one last survivor. This time, it’s the cheerleader, putting all that practice into a fighting form as Valeria dons red pom poms and an unsettling Burger Town High backpack made special for The Haunting.

“Slamfire” Skins (Slamfire Operator Skin, Sector 11)

04f2d718b2ec7204250732dfc76e683b1949311f.jpg

Battle Pass Skin: New to the Operator lineup in Season 6, Slamfire carries the tokens of his football playing days, packing in his ball and trophy alongside more practical slaying elements like a metal sledgehammer. He wears his #33 with pride, his jacket and cap still fitting as they did in his playing days.

“The Last Straw” Skins (Dokkaebi Operator Skin, Sector 12)

9ff3315b9d35b0f3a4605c3398bd57a31de855ec.jpg

Battle Pass Skin: Don’t expect this deadly scarecrow to stay still. This carefully sewn and stuffed Operator Skin will scare away more than just the birds, the stitching over its face lending a menacing look. Wood limbs protruding from the bunched hay gives evidence of a supernatural force at work.

“Bubby’s Night Out” Skins (Riptide Operator Skin, Sector 15)

477399e6fce7c94635a15c7fa7131a6b9d5c0bce.jpg

Battle Pass Skin: Bubby’s taking the night off his usual shift at the Drive Thru to reign terror on his foes in the field. If the sharp teeth and bloody mouth don’t get your hairs on end, note the plastic arms indicating that this isn’t just some Operator wearing a helmet, but a deadly mascot come to life.

“This is Fine” Skins (Jabber Operator Skin, Sector 19)

a9d702c6fdbf58f48ab6d2df607df0e0b9aa6b6f.jpg

Battle Pass Skin: Why not have a little fun while slaying! In this twisted Operator Skin, a crazed clown appears to be holding Jabber hostage. Is it a simple trick of the eye at work, or is there a more sinister synthesis between soldier and trickster?

Multiplayer Modes: Hordepoint, Mutation, Infected, and Arcade

Game Mode: Hordepoint

3f24edb4621202cd3bf0d195367c4a59a75e3ec3.jpg

First introduced in Call of Duty: WWII (2017), Hordepoint returns to Modern Warfare III! Capturing the Hardpoint and defending against the attacking team might sound familiar, but that’s not the end of the story in this twisted version of the classic Hardpoint Mode. You’re fighting against both the living and the undead in Hordepoint, fending off your enemies plus a horde of bloodthirsty zombies!

Game Mode: Arcade

90351720a7fb193a24cdedafd79f1b533bead56a.jpg

Arcade returns, enhancing Operators with abilities like increased jump height and the ability to Ground Slam into opponents. Dominate your foes by seizing power weapons including the Sledgehammer with an increased knockback effect, an explosive MORS Sniper Rifle, and other enhanced weaponry for the taking.

Use your Forcefield ability to defend against the onslaught; activate it to create a transparent bubble around the player that defends against incoming bullets until it breaks after taking enough damage. Balance attack and defense and crush your enemies.

Game Mode: Mutation

cff45a6eb6cd37843bfe22881153323888cd440f.jpg

Embrace the change — no matter how unnatural — with the return of Mutation mode. Take turns playing as a team of humans or mutants in a moshpit of modes. Human Operators spawn with increased ammo reserves and can earn Killstreaks to help fight back the mutant threat.

Mutants forego traditional Loadouts for one of four unique classes:
  • Mutated Leaper: Leap at your enemies and become enraged, gaining faster movement speed and melee damage along with the ability to detect enemies around corners. Toss a Snapshot Grenade to reveal foes to your team.
  • Radioactive Beast: Charge your enemies as a half dog, half demon. Howl to improve the health and movement speed of your allies and use your enhanced senses to reveal nearby enemies on the minimap.
  • Contaminated Sludger: The Sludger obscures sightlines with a Smoke Grenade and can attack enemies with a close-ranged acid blast that pools on the ground and slows its victims. Explode in a large radius of mutant sludge, taking your foes down with you.
  • Camouflaged Sneaker: Become partially invisible and stun and slow enemies with a lethal energy projectile. When it’s time to break stealth and attack, scramble at your enemies with an electrified leap.
Mutants who amass a high elimination count may even get the chance to pursue their targets as the monstrous Mutant Juggernaut.

Game Mode: Infected

94b6cdd524d60c30f4c5eb93fe1adeb5ae2ac512.jpg

Infected returns with The Haunting twist, as infected players attempt to dispatch the living with their claws and throwing knives. One player is chosen at random to spawn in as the infected, tasked with eliminating the human survivors to turn them to their cause. The still-living must use the tools at their disposal to keep their lives intact.

To celebrate the final season of Modern Warfare Zombies, and as a thank you to all our Zombies players this year, we’re amping up the fun with two major season-long advantages. First, all Operators will be able to access Free Dark Aether Rift Runs for free — after completing the initial mission that unlocks them — without the need to offer up a Sigil. However, Hard Dark Aether Rift Runs will still require an Elder Sigil.

Plus, all schematics will recover twice as quickly.

CALL OF DUTY: WARZONE OVERVIEW (WZ)

75f6125880896e763984d2513479df4cab5f31dd.jpg

Content Summary
  • New Terrifying Terrain: Watch your step around the living tentacles slithering across Rebirth Island in Hellspawn and battle under a blood moon as night descends on Vondel.
  • Brave Purgatory, Zombie Royale LTMs: Cheat death in the new Purgatory LTM where anything goes and face off against the undead with the return of Zombie Royale.
The Haunting: Hellspawn Map Variant (Rebirth Island, Launch)

5639bd32d0fc79c5bbe2e1682fea352d431bc43b.jpg

The hellmouth has opened over Rebirth Island as devilish tentacles slither their way around the gore-soaked island. A strange mist hangs in the air. The ocean appears blood-red, and the rocky coastal outcrops feature unsettling crimson vegetation.

07c74057cefc6f1350fcdd37a924f4230859e2f1.jpg

Steel yourself against the hellacious scares that await you around every corner in this terrifying reimagining of Rebirth Island. Venture into the prison itself – if you dare – and discover foul anomalies across the walls, and ominous shadows around the lighthouse…

e74dc7320a351c5fd27bf6416adc0cf151e02dc2.jpg

The unnatural red waters of the Factory and dockyards, along with fleshy growths smothering the walls and machinery mean Hellspawn is not for the faint of hearted. You may not know what’s creeping up behind you… until it’s too late!

ef4b6e6c375a11d210fcedc8168bf5781acef43c.jpg

As lightning crackles down from the spinning hellmouth, there are further grotesque locations to explore. Rooms lit with eerie lights, something fleshy in the garage, and threats around almost every corner. Dare you enter Hellspawn?

The Haunting: Vondel Night (Vondel, Launch)

bd7e9caeeb82b9153fb412f26811fadb4a318dbe.jpg

The sun once again sets on Vondel as the moon casts lights and long shadows over the city and its canals. Battle under the cover of night from the Castle to the Cruise Terminal and secure victory via expert navigation of the map’s extensive waterways.

ff6d00d9d89eeb89bf5e1deb3b28a43f2270643a.jpg

Though visibility is good, and the city’s infrastructure is still intact allowing ground-level illumination, the undead terrors awaiting you across Vondel are an additional concern as you battle through the night.

Call of Duty: Warzone Modes

Purgatory (Limited Time Mode, Hellspawn, Launch)

aaf2f952dadef0f66c654bbcbd139baec177a7ab.jpg

There’s lots of fun to be had in Purgatory, a new squad-based LTM taking place on the Hellspawn map variant featuring a sandbox setting where squads can battle and complete objectives at their own pace. Custom Loadouts are always available, and all Operators receive infinite respawns.

The mode supports a variety of interesting mechanics to enjoy during your long stay, including:

Insane Powerups: Purgatory features excellent loot including powerful Weapon Blueprints and plentiful Killstreaks. Find and equip super weapons from the Arcade mode and gain enhanced abilities from Mutation.

Portals: Peer into the image of a portal to see where it will take you. Step inside to transport there.

Flying Shipment: In this strange environment, Shipment flies over the island on a drivable platform, accessible via parachute, helicopter, and by portal.

Chill in the Safe Zone: Move into a designated Safe Zones to take a break from combat and chill with other Operators. Safe Zones are easily identified by the translucent dome enclosing them. Inside the dome, Operators enter third-person perspective and are unable to deal or deceive damage.

Hang out, adjust your Loadout, and commend other players you encounter inside the Safe Zone to earn XP and meet new friends.

ba194228a5962ad440a8ad5dc99b1fbb055b9050.jpg

Torment Level: Eliminating enemies increases your Torment Level. The higher your Torment Level, the more XP you earn per elimination. But the advantage comes at a cost: as your Torment Level increases, so does your presence on the enemy minimap, increasing your visibility to enemy players.

Scare Packages: Dropped in various locations throughout the match, Scare Packages include powerful loot and some unexpected side effects. Seek them out and roll the dice...

Terriball: You’ll need to be quick on your feet around Terriballs. They spawn around the map and are found in Scare Packages, too. Shoot, melee, or run into a Terriball to send it flying, instantly eliminating any Operator it hits.

Squads can achieve a victory condition. Eliminate enemies and commend your peers to progress during your stay in the afterlife.

Zombie Royale (Limited Time Mode, Hellspawn/Vondel Night, Launch)

7f917ef2246a7191bedd38d8fb86e7192464dfd4.jpg

Fall and rise again as the undead in Zombie Royale. Eliminated Operators will become zombies, giving you the chance to seek revenge while taking out any other living Operators you encounter on the way. Zombies gain unique abilities like faster movement speed, stronger melee attacks, advanced vision, a charged jump and more.

20c6a1688ddf3a5d7fd331d8dc541cc17d6dde8e.jpg

Weapons Detail

cf8f6405ddf808ab5190f8c08774bfc8e5f2082f.jpg

Keep the terror at bay with new armaments including a Battle Rifle that inflicts heavy damage and an LMG that excels in Tactical Stance.

DTIR 30-06 (Battle Rifle, Launch, Battle Pass Sector 6)

Levels: 20, Battle Pass Blueprint [Sector 20]

b853a21c89b2b6c019c4d78e0f9f1a05aaf78f4e.jpg

Eliminate long-range threats with this slow-firing and hard-hitting battle rifle chambered in .30-06.

Steady and powerful, this Battle Rifle works wonders in the hands of a skilled Operator. Its slow fire rate helps you conserve ammo and stay on target, inflicting heavy damage with each shot. Its strong base model gives you plenty of control when building the weapon out in Gunsmith. Throw on a scope to keep enemies at a distance, bulk up its ammo reserves with a larger magazine, and improve its handling speeds with an assortment of ergonomic designs.

Kastov LSW (Light Machine Gun, Launch, Battle Pass Sector 9)

Levels: 18, Battle Pass Blueprint [Sector 14]

6cf86fd761e8153e0670a8ee8250c280df8fa50a.jpg

With its best-in-class fire rate and Tac Stance accuracy, this LMG was crafted to tear enemies through at short to medium range.

Shirking the traditional role of an LMG, the Kastov LSW encourages closing the distance to your targets by pairing a high fire rate with incredible accuracy in Tactical Stance. The weapon also sports a fast reload speed so you can get right back into the action after exhausting its hefty 100 round default magazine. Use Gunsmith to further enhance the LMG, from improving Tac Stance accuracy even more to building it out for longer ranged play with attachments extending its damage range and bullet velocity.

Three New Aftermarket Parts (Launch, MWIII, MWZ, WZ)

9e5efb5dd7ff221c567ae7e5711f518d672c1775.jpg

JAK Salvo

Compatibility: KATT-AMR Sniper Rifle [MWIII]

A sniper modification that fires anti-materiel explosive rockets that deal significant explosive damage.

JAK Voltstorm

Compatibility: Stormender Launcher [MWIII]

High-voltage electricity is cycled through copper coils and discharged in a lethal bolt capable of hitting multiple targets.

JAK Lance

Compatibility: MX Guardian Shotgun [MWII]

A pressurized magazine that fires three ballistic rivets, one per magazine rotation. Pressure builds while the weapon is idle until the maximum output is reached. At critical pressure, velocity, and precision are vastly improved.

BlackCell and Battle Pass

6d557fe4f42d1d359b5a20dce6a08cb48095e9aa.jpg

A three-headed, zombified mutation stalks the Season 6 BlackCell offering with the introduction of Alone, featuring an animated Operator Skin over a static surface. Alone is accompanied by other BlackCell Operators Skins within the Battle Pass, featuring a classic grayscale look that would fit perfectly in a black and white horror film.

Deep in the Appalachian Mountains, a train graveyard lies shrouded by a lush forest. Abandoned and forgotten, this derelict depot along the NOR Appalachian Railroad has become a prime ambush point for Rogue Black Ops and Crimson One to face off in a deadly skirmish.

Rewind

8abf92bb40543880b2099bfbc243ec48b13d25a1.jpg

Visit the Liberty Shopping Plaza right on the edge of Liberty Falls, West Virginia and wreak havoc through the strip mall. In this unique layout, two outer lanes are connected by multiple routes through and around the shops, a video store in the middle housing several major objectives.

Scud

Deploy to a desert military outpost following a devastating attack. The damaged radar dish and nearby buildings have taken several hits, the air thick with smoke from the surrounding fires. Bunker down in the depot or HQ or flank enemies in the trenches. Watch for snipers near the radar dish; its base provides a near 360-degree view.

Skyline

Take in breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside from the rooftop of a luxury resort featuring an exquisite penthouse with access to a lounge, kitchen, gym, and pool. Descend into the panic room to cross under the map or fight in the open around the victims of a recent hit job.

Strike Maps

Gala
